Questions

The things students ask before they arrive.

If the answer you need is not here, the housing office would rather you asked than guessed.

How do I apply for a room?
Boarding is arranged through the university admissions office. Once that is settled, download the lease, fill it in, and email it to the housing office with a copy of your passport.
Do I have to live in the dorms?
Unaccompanied first semester students at Saba University are expected to live in one of the dormitories.
What does a semester cost?
$3,950 for Fall 2026. That is $3,800 covering rent, electricity, water and fibre internet, plus a $150 refundable security deposit. The breakdown is on the rates page.
How many people share a unit?
Four. Each has a private bedroom, and you share a bathroom with one roommate rather than with the whole floor.
What is in the room?
A twin bed with sheets and a blanket, a desk with a lamp, a chest of drawers and a closet. The shared kitchen has a full size fridge, a cook top, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker. No pillows, towels, pots, pans or clothes hangers are provided.
How do I arrange to move in?
Email the signed lease and your passport copy to the housing office, and tell them how and when you are arriving. Check in is by appointment, at the office on the lower level of Dorm 2. There is no 24 hour front desk.
When are the fees due?
In full before you arrive. A non-refundable $2,000 deposit secures the room, and the $1,950 balance is also paid before arrival; payment in full is what gets you admitted. The one exception: with proof of a Financial Aid Award, the balance may be paid within 60 days of the lease starting, with a $100 per day penalty after that.
How do I pay?
Zelle, wire transfer or card. Zelle is the only one that arrives without a fee, and any fee Hillside is charged is added to what you owe, so it is worth using. Send a copy of the receipt to accounting either way.
When can I move in and when do I have to leave?
For Fall 2026, the earliest move-in date is 31 August 2026 and you need to be out by 18 December 2026, by midday.
Is internet included?
Yes. Fibre internet is part of the semester fee, so there is nothing separate to arrange or pay for.
When do I get my security deposit back?
One semester after your check-out date, once the check-out list has been followed and nothing has been deducted. It is not returned at check-out.
Is there laundry?
Yes, pay per use machines on the ground floor of Building 1, open Monday to Saturday.
How far is the school?
About four minutes on foot, along a path that is lit at night.
Can I stay short-term if I am not a student?
Yes, when the dorms are not at capacity. Availability moves with the academic calendar, so email the housing office with the dates you have in mind and they will tell you what is free.
